Honey is one of perfumery’s most seductive themes, but in The Wild Apiarist, sweetness is only the beginning. The composition is built around the tension between golden honey, roasted coffee and warm tobacco—three materials that pull against one another and give the fragrance its depth.

The opening is rich with honey, manuka and aromatic davana, with liquorice adding only a subtle dark accent. Beeswax deepens the honey with a warm, tactile quality, while lily of the valley and rose bring flashes of freshness. Peach and osmanthus soften the heart with their velvety, apricot-like character.

As the fragrance develops, coffee cuts through the sweetness with a roasted bitterness, while tobacco introduces dryness, warmth and a gentle trace of smoke. Myrrh, patchouli and benzoin form a resinous foundation, rounded by tonka bean and vanilla. Ambergris adds a mineral warmth, and boxtree absolute leaves an unusual green dryness in the final stages.

The first impression is golden honey. What keeps drawing you back is everything moving beneath it: the bitterness of coffee, the warmth of tobacco and the slow depth of resins on skin. The Wild Apiarist is rich without becoming sugary, dark without becoming heavy, and far more intriguing than a conventional honey fragrance.
